St. John's Catholic Student Center Vision Statement

"To equip the holy ones for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ until we all attain to the unity of faith and knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the extent of the full stature of Christ " Ephesians 3:13

  1. Forming the Faith Community: Participate fully, actively and consciously in the life of the community through worship, service, and social activities. Create a hospitable environment by recognizing the image of God in each other and welcoming everyone, regardless of race. gender or orientation, as we would welcome Christ himself .

  2. Appropriating the Faith: Grow in faith and wisdom together. Learn as much as we can about our beliefs and our history to be able to speak about our faith in an informed and mature way with conviction and intelligence, both with other Catholics and with non-Catholics.

  3. Forming the Conscience: Search for moral answers to our questions by analyzing the Gospels. Have open and respectful discussions. Spend time in prayer.

  4. Educating for Justice: Advocate for peace, justice, and reverence for creation. Educate others in the beauty and responsibility of Catholic Social Teaching. Follow the great commandment by loving God and our neighbors, and putting our love in action.

  5. Personal Development: Live as examples of the Gospels and our Catholic faith in a region where we are a minority. Strive to be well-rounded individuals, committed to serving the common good.

  6. Developing leaders: Practice ministry in different forms, for example, as musicians, lectors, Eucharistic ministers. Work to bring forward other leaders and to help everyone use their gifts to benefit the church and society. Extend ourselves in practicing hospitality. Become more knowledgeable and more willing to participate in various communities. Lead by example.
